Going to Extremes and Missing the Mark

Or Between the Skeptic and the Fundamentalist, by Mark Shea at Catholic Exchange. Very interesting parallelism drawn from a shared tendency to go to extremes.

Jeff,

The question is not what Paul might have learned through the church, the question is what truly happened. To conjecture that Paul might have learned this or that etc is no mean feat (I should think). You and I can conjecture but what is the evidence? According to Paul he even went to heaven 2 Cor 12:1, in fact the thorn in the flesh he received was to keep him humble because of these revelations of Jesus Christ. So for Mark to pose that Paul learned these things he preached through the Church violates Pauls testimony. This is putting things in the Bible rather than letting it speak. This procedure is not sound. It is argueing from silence.
